“It’s not what happens that matters but how you react (to what happens) that matters”

“It’s not about the situation or the circumstance, it’s about you in it”

“Things only have the meaning we give them”

“People only treat you the way you let them”

“We cannot direct the winds but we can adjust our sails.”

This quote by Thomas S. Monson is an absolute favorite of mine.

Sometimes there are things that happen in our lives that we simply can’t control — that is just part and parcel of life. What we can control is our reaction to things.

Being the Best You

It’s amazing how much time in life we spend worrying about things that we can’t control. Things like the weather, decisions we have made in the past, what other people think of us, the traffic, the economy. Understanding what we can and cannot control is a secret to happiness in life, and is also the secret to success with our finances. Imagine the life we would lead if we stopped getting upset about things that are out of our control.

Many of us are habituated to reacting negatively and have mastered the ‘skill’ of finding the bad in every situation. Focusing on negativity, we miss out on the lesson the situation can teach us.

If we can master the ability to react appropriately to every situation then we can have a good day, every day, despite what does or doesn’t happen on that day; barring physical events, nearly all other adverse situations can provide the experiencer with very insightful lesson if only he maintains his calm and asks the right questions.

“Life ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! “ -Rocky Balboa

Stay well ❤ and Stop worrying about the things you can’t control — worrying doesn’t take away tomorrow’s troubles. it takes away today’s joy!
